From the 90s: Polly Pocket

Polly Pocket was THE toy to have when I was a kid, for the girls at least. Tiny houses and even tinier figurines   were all the rage back then. If my sister loved Barbie, I loved Polly. LOL.

Apparently, Polly Pocket is still alive today so technically it isn't from the 90s. I don't know if little girls these days would still love to receive a Polly Pocket house for their birthday but I remember being the happiest little girl when I got mine from my parents.

This is exactly what I got. I loved how it would fold into a heart shaped bag which I carried around the house. The small figurines inside would make so much noise as I ran down the stairs. Haha!

Aside from the heart shaped "bag", I also had a few smaller Polly Pocket houses and this was one of them. I can't believe I even found a picture of the exact one! I don't remember why I loved playing with them so much. Seems like you can't do much really. Haha! Oh well. Gone are the days when playing meant pretending, making up stories and spending hours on the floor with inanimate objects.

From the 90s: Tamagotchi

So, how was your weekend?? I had an absolutely fun filled weekend with my boyfriend, friends, booze, and some really awesome food from Tsukiji. Mmmmm. My mouth waters just thinking about the food we had last night.

Speaking of Japanese food, I really think Japan is the land of the coolest things. I am eternally grateful to the Japanese people for inventing sushi and to my boyfriend for opening my eyes and helping me appreciate Japanese food. It's his absolute favorite! Haha. Another thing I am grateful for is Tamagotchi! My mom wasn't the biggest fan of pets in the house so I was such a happy little girl when I got a Tamagotchi for Christmas years ago.

I remember being so responsible of my digital pet. Feeding it and playing with it when she (I assumed it was female) "needed attention". LOL.

I think my Tamagotchi was pink. It was plain though but I absolutely loved it! I did, until I got bored LOL. I think my pet died after a few months. Haha!

Can you believe that they're still out in the market?? I guess this really isn't a blast from the past. Hmmmm, maybe I'll get one for my niece when she's old enough just for the heck of it. I might end up keeping it for myself just to relive my childhood. Haha!

How long did your vitrual pet last?

From the 90s: Skydancers

I'm a 90s kid and I like to reminisce once in a while. Today's gift from the 90s is the Skydancer. It's a doll with foam wings. When you pull some string, the doll spins on its stand like a top and it eventually flies. I remember being so amazed and scared at the same time whenever I played with my Skydancer. My mom gave it to me when I was in grade school. I can't exactly remember how old I was then but I remember that I broke a few household items because of this toy. Sorry mom!

I don't think the tv show aired in the Philippines. Too bad. I would've been a loyal follower. Haha!

This is the dancer I got!

About a year ago, I found it in our bodega and it still worked! I couldn't believe it! When we moved houses, I think I gave it to my yaya's granddaughter so she could enjoy it for whatever it's worth.

Did you have one when you were a kid?
